In the next screen, you'll find a popup menu allowing you to choose an "Easy Install" (the default choice) or a "Custom Install."
The Easy Install option offers everything you need to begin using the In Concert Demo:
• a version of the In Concert Demo appropriate for your Mac OS system
• the Cakewalk In Concert Demo Song Book, in Acrobat Reader format (PDF)
• the Cakewalk In Concert Demo Tutorial, in Acrobat Reader format
• MidiShare, version1.68, software that allows In Concert to communicate with your MIDI devices
Choose Custom Install to install one or more of the following:
• the In Concert Demo Application, without the MIDI connectivity software
• the Tutorial and Song Book files
• MidiShare, version 1.68
You will need Adobe's Acrobat Reader software (version 3.01 or greater) to view and print the Tutorial and Song Book files. If you do not already have Acrobat Reader installed, and you are installing this demo from CD-ROM, you will find an Acrobat Reader Install folder on the CD-ROM disk. If you have downloaded this demo installer, you can locate an installer for Acrobat Reader at Adobe's Web site:
Notes on MIDI Connectivity Software
In Concert requires and runs under any of the following MIDI systems: MidiShare, the Open MIDI System (OMS) version 2.3.3 or greater, or Apple's MIDI Manager. At least one of these systems must be installed to launch the In Concert Demo. We include MidiShare by default with the Easy Install option, since MidiShare is easy to set up and use.
If you already use another MIDI connectivity software option like OMS, or you do not wish to install MidiShare for other reasons, please select a Custom Install option.
While OMS offers many valuable features and is supported in Apple's QuickTime software, beginning or novice users may find MidiShare to be easier to configure and work with than OMS—we encourage you to use the MIDI connectivity software you prefer.
Instructions and documentation for using OMS and MidiShare are available in their respective folders.
In Concert is also compatible with Apple's MIDI Manager, but we do not recommend using it since both Apple and Cakewalk have stopped supporting it. We do not provide MIDI Manager with this installer.
We hope you enjoy the In Concert Demo, and your first glimpse into a new way of making music.
